The inspiration of my graduate collection reflects our hyper technologic world which seems to narrow the gaps between reality and sci-fi fantasies. In a world where fantasies of the past, liberated by science and technology, have become today’s reality, the future of humanity as we know it seems to be at stake.
The journey towards the definition of a concept that would inspire my final collection started upon noticing that the current music industry glamorizes and perpetrates the imagery of a technologically transformed human being in which human characteristics are diluted and upgraded into a bionic super being.
The choice of such topic has been dictated by a strong interest in understanding various subliminal messages our society seems to convey, hinting that being only human is not enough and the next step to perfection is to become a superhuman with augmented physical and intellectual powers.
The Ex-Human 2016 Collection is all hand made with a focus on three-dimensional fabric manipulation and creative pattern cutting. It aims to satisfy the need for originality of design with the creation of structural, bold constructions and three-dimensional pieces.
The collection aims to challenge and push the boundaries for everyday wear but at the same time the garments would be in their own way functional and wearable. The intent is to create quality pieces with a futuristic outlook that are innovative and appealing.
