Description
My practice is a response to the artifice & idiocy, glory and magnificence of modern living, that takes heed of tradition, art history and critical theory. If occasionally belligerent and contrary, it is never intended to be nostalgic.
I attempt to open up space for a fresh consideration of formal sculptural qualities, and the experience this can convey. These qualities are sometimes deemed redundant in an age when cultural experience becomes increasingly momentary and two-dimensional. I suggest that reappraising moments of the past can suggest afresh ways of looking at things today, and that sensory experience of physical objects & how they hold space is something still to be valued.
We live in an age where information and ideas are acquired ever more increasingly by synthesis rather than dictum. I believe it is important within this mix to make visible things that might otherwise be missed.
