The series title 'On the edge of colour' references the notion of darkness, shadows and the idea of absolute 'black', paused in transition, on the edge of illumination by light into colour.
My research for my MA has primarily focused on creating abstract structures that resemble or function as an equivalent to a verbal language system, whether being an equivalent to a singular word, sentence or even a music notation. This has involved placing my work to some extent within the historical context of visual abstraction but also identifying links with such areas as visual or concrete poetry. The prints are etchings onto large steel sheets with aquatint. This specific area allowed me to address the sculptural potential within printmaking.
