Helena Davey
BA (Hons) Drawing 2012
Camberwell College of Arts
Description
The materials I use within my work are close to drawing and line. I am interested in the way physical line can articulate space and I need the physicality and immediate challenge of making. Evolving from my investigation of the definition of drawing, I have recently expanded my practice to site specific works. Restrictions, limitations and the pressure to perform within a limited timescale are all exciting elements which force me to focus on the formal aspect of the work and encourage a more intuitive approach. The aim of my work is to coexist with rather than disrupts its surroundings.
The work is certainly non-objective, just lines, without any hint of nature. And still everybody responds, I think.
