Canadian-born designer Michelle Ross launched her debut A/W collection this spring, with 18 unique pieces inspired by The Garden of Eden, imagined as both a haven of feminine sexuality and a tempestuous, overgrown place of mystery.

Born of the juxtaposition between order and chaos, the collection brings to life warm shades of burnt orange, soft charcoal and nudes with ethereal embellishments and detailed fabric manipulation. Ross has utilized her training in textiles, and background in jewellery design, to combine materials that are both complementary and contradictory. Light-weight silk, woven metal, and felted wool provide eccentricity to muted jersey and cashmere-knits. The pieces can be layered with ease, yielding combinations where something slightly askew recalls a certain romanticism.

This collection has been created for the woman who appreciates timeless, wearable pieces, and is yet drawn to designs that push the boundaries of construction, pieces that seem to meld with, drip off and ultimately enhance the female frame. Ross’ pieces reflect her passion for enhancing fabrics through asymmetry and imperfection producing an effortless, nostalgic and often majestic look.
