Description

My work was inspired by a stack of 1940's love letters that I found. After doing a lot of research into the era it became the hairstyles worn by the women that fascinated me the most. In an attempt to make a love token maybe kept by Frank (to whom the letters were written to) the collection 'Joanne' (the writer of the letters) was born. Not only is this collection a series of medals honouring the time spent creating the perfect coiffeur but it is a way for women to glamourise the before, as well as the after. One should always lo glamourously even if they are popping to the shop in their hair rollers and thus the reason for silver hair rollers. With this collection I have aimed to celebrate beauty whilst also being very sensitive to the era in which my inspiration was gained.
