Textiles for fashion Designer, specialising in Embroidery processes and print design. Combining traditional and contemporary craft skills to inform and create innovative textile pieces with a view to fashion production. Inspiration and design are channeled through a passion for drawing and fine art, whilst fusing sensitivity to colour and acute detailing. A signature style and approach, entails the aesthetics produced are diverse whilst retaining stylistically, unique precision.
Fascination of the ordinary and extraordinary permeates inspiration and concept, motivating deeper exploration into each facet of research to reveal beauty from unlikely sources, as well as traditional.
From photographic research is developed hand rendered interpretations of source material: through the mediums of sketching, painting and mixed media collage – providing and expanding upon material to grow into textile pieces. Through this approach is inspired, and even defined, the techniques used to translate images into desired textiles.
The style of work is craft focused, developing hand drawn or painted images into digital print, or drawing images in stitch using freehand, Irish machine, embroidery.
