London College of Fashion 2012 - Bunker Films
The AW12 collection, entitled The Secret Boys Club, draws inspiration from "The Midnight Society" of 90s Kids TV show 'Are You Afraid Of The Dark' and the 'Bookhouse Boys' of 'Twin Peaks' drawing parallels between the innocent boyhood treehouse clubs and the sinister secret societies of the New World Order.
Blending bold colour blocking, Masonic symbolism, hand painted print and geometric quilting, I explored the aspiration and intrigue of secret societies and notions of exclusivity and belonging.
As a designer wearability is important in all my work, using classic menswear shapes, the emphasis comes in interesting fabrication, exciting surface decoration, while still holding commercial value
Combining interesting techniques such as applique, embroidery, needle punch and ultrasew (ultrasonic welding) with melton, polyester fleece and corduroy, rich textures throughout the collection with a nod to garments of 90s childhood.
