Sharon’s interest in design stems from her passion for the visual arts and crafts. Before moving to London, she worked as a fancy jewellery designer for a private French company in Mauritius, where she also helped design costume embellishments for local musicals. Although specialising in surface decoration and textile manipulation, she is equally skilled at freehand drawing, illustration, stand work and pattern-cutting, with a particular interest in corsetry. Her style, however versatile, tends to lean towards a feminine mix of urban and alternative fashion, with close attention to textures and details.

The launch of her graduate collection, ‘Organic Frameworks S/S 2011’ was inspired by the structures of human and robotic skeletons, exploring the ways in which an organic element can morph into a contemporary product.

Akin to late Sixties fashion, the overall look is young, fresh and sleek, but with a modern and edgy approach to the classic shift dress by basing on a shiny white colour palette and incorporating a range of contrasting fabrics like silk organza, habotai, PVC, embossed sheepskin and pearlised lambskin leather.

Being a self-reliant, fast learner keen to broaden her knowledge of the fashion industry, Sharon intends to work for a womenswear brand or luxury house with an extensive set of roles in mind besides design and production. Her CV includes work experience with designers and british brands such as Mulberry, Emma Cook, Zoe Bradley and John Richmond, for whom she designed final artworks and textiles for the Spring/Summer 2010 Mainline Collection.
