'Losing Focus' captures the idea of a conceptual design within swimwear, based on the illusion of 3D and a technological dimensional world we now live in.
Encorporating contour and conceptual design, my final collection consisiting of three swimsuits each uniquely capture the thought process behind my ideas and research into 3D technology and modern NewGen Designers.
Using pleated polyester organza, I manipulated the fabric to create sculputed shapes and dimensions in contrast to the contoured bodyshaping swimsuit using boning, powernet and foamcups. This unique concept pushed the element of mirroring the idea of 3D technology with actually creating a 3 dimensional garment.
Pushing it further with the second swimsuit as it encorporated the idea of 4D technology as the use of hydrochromic ink fabric (which changes during water contact) enveloped the idea of modern fabric development and places a stamp of future in which we are heading.

The rendering of the zip is sleek and professional but adds a hint of unique design contrasting with the delicacy of the pleated fabric to the big chunky bulkiness of the long scuba zip. The movement of the fabric and tassel on zip add connotations of seaweed and ripples in water ultimately tying up the design process of creating contoured swimsuits that adapt and change with movement and their enviroment.

'Losing Focus' overall stems from the idea of losing our focus in the modern world and highlights the direction of a technology driven conceptual world; but also the clarity of of knowing that what once was will now never be as we head towards the expansion of a bigger tomorrow and an technological future.
