  • AntoniaZhang A/W 2010

Antonia Zhang’s 2010A/W collection provides an opportunity to challenge prevalent aesthetic attitude, as she believes attitude defines flaw or signature of physicality.

Inspired by Hans Bellmer’s artwork and Japanese ball-jointed dolls, Zhang’s creative ideas based on vary physical proportion and exhibit distinct physical characteristics.

An attempt to mould the shape of the female ball-jointed doll, the sharp edges was cured of hips, shoulders and bust but they were, at the same time exaggerated. Designer used asymmetrical or informal balance to achieve a more exciting, dramatic effect. Also for fabrication, Antonia used canvas and wool as well as mohair against cotton jersey and stretch netting to produce contract.
