Description

With my practice I question how I connect with life around me and the relationships between body and consciousness. Exploring emotional and physical experiences, looking at spaces in-between and enigmas, capturing or creating precious moments of still beauty, mystery or events that intrigue me. I work with ideas like sleep and death and emotions that are not linear visible or palpable.
I’m not interested in a literal approach. Instead I look for a poetic force. I capture the sensation, concentrate on the mood, the impact, usually adopting an abstract representation.
I look at the uncertainty of moments and capture dualities or contrasts that can be translated into paired concepts - full and empty, light and heavy, delicate and strong, material and immaterial, surface and depth, warm and cold, presence and absence. As I try to understand the dialogue between one’s surroundings I focus on the ambiguity of appearances while also addressing inner emotions.
I work mainly with etching techniques that allow me to create these surfaces and shapes that can be intense and tactile. Drawing and photography have also been an important part of my practice and I´m always open to work with other media that seems appropriate to the project.
Most of my drawings have small marks that I repeat to add the sense of time and intensity to the drawing. The mark making and involvement with the materials and the process is a very important part of the work and it keeps adding to my conceptual and aesthetic sensibility.
