THE COLLECTION:

The collection was inspired by surrealism with a focus on Oppenheim's Fur Breakfast, Margritte's Les Amants and Dali's Persistence of Memory. Misplacement of texture and materials on ordinary objects provoke immediate responses because of its unordinary qualities.



THE DESIGNER:

CHI YUEN (CHERRY)
Nationality: British

Chi-Lai (Cherry) Yuen is a British Footwear Designer who was born and raised in Hong Kong.

She graduated from the prestigious Cordwainer’s College in London with a Master of Arts Degree in Fashion Footwear and earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Fashion Design at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She has worked for Celine, Alexander Wang, Pollini and Nicholas Kirkwood.

Before she became a footwear designer, she specialized in womenswear fashion design. Her works have been exhibited in fashion shows and galleries in Japan and the U.S.A. She was pre-selected to Japan Fashion Week's 2007 Onward New Designer Grand Prix. Chi-Lai has also received a honorable mention from the CFDA in its scholarship award and La Cambre Award from Arts of Fashion International Competition 2008.

She believes a good design is a combination of simplicity with innovative ideas executed in high quality production using luxurious materials.

She is currently based in London, UK.
