I N T R O D U C T I O N

From Seoul, South Korea to London at the age of 19, I am the cultural mixture of both cities.
I never stop throwing a questions on the society, culture and history. Endless curiosity and eager to find the answer prompts me to make dreamy visions into real object. Exploring both academic theories and visual research broadened my perspective on fashion and design.
I have a strong obsession with the 'new and challenging' silhouette and technique. I am aesthetically a raw and rough person but at the same time, very delicate to control details.
Never afraid of adventure and challenge in life and career, I am in the progress of realisation of my own dream.

'A Princeless Mermaid' is born from the controversial issue happened in South Korea. On July 2016, a South Korean company fired a voice actress just for standing women. The voice actress who worked for PC game company posted a selfie on Twitter wearing a dope T shirt that reads,

"GIRLS DO NOT NEED A PRINCE"

Still, people are bound to the invisible shackles, 'gender and sexuality'. Curiosity and sympathy towards outer world prompted me to read and study gender theories. when reading the 'Gender Trouble' by Judith Butler, it was difficult in the beginning for me to understand her challenging stance,

"Sex and gender are both constructed."

With endeavor to understand, I could come to the conclusion that as we cannot identify the numerous of different bodies, we cannot classify sex into only two types; Male or Female.

This project is a piece of work bonding the exploration of the culture and society with imaginary visions. I wish anyone who had suffered, or being hurt from gender issues could get a piece of comfort from my collection.
