For my final major project I wrote as well as assisted photography, styled and designed Two Cents magazine; a new and innovative fashion and literature hybrid which aims to make the somewhat heritage past-time of reading interesting and relevant to a demographic of creative, intelligent 18-30 year olds who still love to read. Reacting against the uninspired, dry and embittered format of its contemporaries Times Literary Supplement and The New York Review of Books, the magazine handles the subject in a bold, exciting and intelligent manner. From literature erotica to D.I.Y book clubs, Two Cents highlights the importance of reading and profundity of thought in a celebrity fixated, trash culture.
I am an ambitious, diligent and resourceful entry-level journalist with a passion for culture and feature writing. I am known for my thoughtful and scrupulous approach towards crafting the written word - which has seen me appointed as sub-editor at numerous course-led publications. I have completed 4 weeks work experience at The Observer, which has heightened my enthusiasm to work for an intelligent, cultural and socially important publication. My time at London College of Fashion has endowed me with the skills to write for both print and web media, covering topics such as fashion, music, literature, film and popular culture - allowing me to enter the industry with a great degree of flexibility.
