Description
My practice focuses on the still projected photographic image within an installation. The alluring quality of an image made of light has been a central concern and how the control we think we have over the power of our observation can be destabilised. The projected image is used to draw the viewer in, to understand a narrative and to be able to query the reflection they view as either real or fictitious in order to create the feeling of instability. I have been exploring historical references within the still life genre, reflections in paintings and aspects of trompe l’oeil. Memento mori and the stages of ageing have become important themes in my final pieces.
