Description
My work deals with dreams, magic, personal obsessions and interests, love and nostalgia. I work chiefly with watercolours on either paper or canvas and on a small scale. I often create collections of work that celebrates things which inspire wonder in my life. My latest series of paintings have a circus theme, depicting imaginary performers inspired by the big tops of the early to mid 20th century. Preceding subjects include magicians and parlour tricks, objects and people with a personal connection to myself, self-portraits, fairgrounds, vaudeville, pop culture, animals and every day scenes with a magical twist. I also paint in acrylic and gouache, and have in the past experimented with photography, sculpture, puppetry and collage.
