‘Bricolage’ celebrates the work of 'le bricoleur' – one who is capable of performing tasks and creating ad-hoc solutions with the tools and materials available. Hand-held apparatus and relatively simple methods of construction make this process accessible to the amateur maker. Readily available, mass-produced industrial components have been re-appropriated to produce a structural frame. Provided with basic instructions, the user can adapt this structure to suit the environment it is intended for.
The crate, a universally recognisable object, is elevated from its humble packaging origins, becoming a bespoke portable storage solution, while retaining its integrity as an uncomplicated and functional example of design.
