Xiaoyi Qu
Jewellery and Accessory designer

I have a huge interesting on materials. I believe that the things all belong to nature and all have lives. I try to break the boundary bewteen the traditional material and technique in jewellery. To show more possible about jewellery to people.

The aim of this MA project is to awake people to value the things which they owned. My concept of this project is based on Japanese theory 'Wabi-Sabi'. The things could be faded, worn out and even disappeared with the time goes by. But the emotion bewteen the owner and the things couldn't be replaced.

I chose the leaves which came from nature, and the brass as my main materials. The leaves could be dying with the time goes by, while the metal will be leave. Dying is a process of this project and the trace of the leaves would be left on the metal. It's an evidence of the leaves exist and it could be seen as an deep relationship bewteen the people and the object, as well.

Jewellery is a part of people and people is a part of jewellery.
