Rob Davies scavenges the cultural landscape of consumer culture for visual and audible material ranging from films, news footage, print advertising, children’s toys, and even passing conversations.
This found material is then altered, edited and repackaged in a new, presentational form, disrupting the expectations of the viewer.
By presenting the banal as mythic and stripping the beautiful of its lighting and makeup, Davies aims to provoke a deeper questioning and examination of the values we attribute to certain modes of presentation and our position within the wider context of consumer culture.
