Sarah Blythe Bainbridge

MA Textile Design 2015

Chelsea College of Arts

As a textile designer, I wish to convey my connection with nature through art to create awareness of current environmental issues within the textile industry.

My work explores alternate ways to create textiles by using elements of slow design and organic methods. To minimise chemical impacts on the environment, I have used linen, natural flower dyes and non-toxic dyes.

The visual concept of my work relates to models from nature and history and is influenced by gardens in ancient and historic times. My work reflects the art of the garden and it's elements through my design process.
