Sarah-Jane Hedges

Sarah-jane is a freelance footwear designer, who graduated last summer from the London College of Fashion, gaining a BA in "Product Design and Developent for the Fashion Industries: Footwear". After being awarded Draper's Magazines' "Student Footwear Designer of the Year" in 2007 she took a year out to work in Montreal, Canada as a designer for a prolific high street retailer, Le Chateau; and then went on to create styles for the designer brand Fornarina in Civitanova Marche, Italy.

Incredibly passionate about design and inspired by contrasting themes, Sarah-jane likes to challenge conventionality in her designs, the idea that something so banal as a shoe can be transformed into an object of intrigue and beauty with a dramatic profile, luxurious leathers, a sumptuous palette, and use of unconventional materials and techniques - such as laser-cut steel, embellished brass and hand carved oak.

Sarah-jane grew up in Oxfordshire and was educated at The Cheltenham Ladies' College and St Helen and St Katharine school Abingdon, and completed an AVCE in Art and Design at Oxford and Cherwell Valley College prior to studying in London.
