For the final year, a luxury men's bespoke limited edition footwear collection was created for a Traditional English bespoke company -James Taylor and Sons.

'Heritage Collection- The Luxury Limited Edition Collection'

The bespoke collection has a fusion of traditional English craftsmanship of hand made shoemaking methods combined with ancient indigenous Aboriginal and polynesian artistry inspirational designs ideas that are the core heart of this collection.

It has a combination of traditional and classic design elements combined with strong modern elements of masculine design lines with elegant geometric shapes. Each footwear is made of quality leather and materials that evokes a classic and sophisticated touch that has incorporated into a timeless and luxurious footwear.

The collection is designed for men who appreciate traditional fine quality craftsmanship, who seeks distinctive and innovative designs in luxury products. This luxury collection is aimed to appeal to young, ambitious, sophisticated professionals of the 21st century. The collection is also aimed to appeal to consumers whom are mature, affluent, prestigious notables and elite consumers. The intentions of this collection is to encourage young professional men to invest in luxury quality bespoke footwear.

Inspirational Direction for final year collection

The inspirational theme for this collection comes from the word ‘Heritage’. Three main topics for this research, were used for inspirational purposes to create this collection. Indigenous, artistry and tradition, which are the three core themes for this collection. These inspirational ideas were used throughout the development of this footwear collection. The word ‘indigenous’ was an inspirational idea from the Aboriginal culture. The traditional aboriginal dance costume and native clothing inspired the colour palette and material for this collection. Breath-taking indigenous artwork created by traditional indigenous local elders and people from traditional indigenous tribes, who are respected for their distinctive artwork, their use of vibrant and solid colours used in each of their artwork, these elements were incorporated into inspirational ideas for this collection. Well-known Aboriginal and Australian artist were also included in this project with the use of their colours and textures in their artwork. Strong, bold, vibrant and earth toned colours to cool ocean breeze tone colors were used in this collection.
Artistry is an inspirational idea that comes from the Polynesian culture. For this collection, elegant geometric shape, patterns and texture fused with masculine design lines were incorporated into this collection. Several various traditional tapa cloths, weavings and traditional dance costume were acknowledged in this project.
Lastly, the word ‘tradition’ was inspired from the idea of traditional English (handmade/ bespoke) shoe making. For this collection the use of traditional shoe making methods and technical skills were incorporated into this collection. This luxury collection has embraced all the inspirational ideas and themes that have evoked a distinctive and slight-handcrafted feel.
