Description
Considering ideas relating to the metaphysical, I use abstracted form and line as a way of exercising the idea of what constitutes an object of structural integrity and physical possibility.
Through a deconstruction of what I know to exist functionally around me, I aim to challenge the idea of a uniformity of shape which occurs not only within the natural landscape, but which has also inspired man-made production. I am interested in how this consistency of shape and form occurs within artistic creation spontaneously and instinctively.
Predominantly working with collage, paint, and drawing materials on a paper ground allows for a direct translation of idea and impulse. The use of drawing tools; with their directness as an extension of the hand, maintains a level of authorship and gesture. The works are a discovery into how experiences of the physical world directly and intuitively shape my “visual grammar”.
