Sonny Vadgama
BA (Hons) Fine Art 2009
Central Saint Martins College of Arts & Design
Description
Sonny Sanjay Vadgama was born in 1981 in London, UK. Prior to studying art he worked as a Production Assistant for the BBC and later at various Post Production facilities. It was here that he began to gain experience with a variety of digital tools that would eventually become an important part of his practice.
Sonny initially did his Foundation at the Byam Shaw (2004) and recently completed his B.A at Central St Martins (2006 - 2009) with First Class honors. During his B.A he also participated in a three month Erasmus exchange at the Royal College of Art in Stockholm that led to a range of collaborative video projects with Scandinavian artists. Through his work in video, photography and sculpture, Sonny addresses and explores a range of narratives that highlight his political and cultural interests. His material is often found and manipulated digitally to create both 2D and 3D virtual environments. In reference to his video work, Sonny frequently utilises large scale projections that fill the field of vision thus further engaging the audience.
