Stacey Young has involved the use of photography and now more recently installation and film. Through her work she brings the experience of place visited to the viewer. Google maps are her source for locating interesting shaped roads and paths. Travelling to the location she then photographs in a way that will reflect the physicality of that place. More recently Young has used other mediums such as drawing as a way of representing an experience of a journey.
Young’s films show a relationship to time, distance and movement, but also the way in how we access places; the contact we have to the ground through walking or via transport. By making structures in connection with the films she creates a situation where the viewer is to watch the film in the way that they were filmed. She wants to involve the viewer directly, controlling the way they view her films.
