My work is photographic self-portraiture. I use the camera to reflect upon issues within my own life, my character and how I view the world. My four main portfolios of work, (the nightclub, the school, the shopping centre and the theatre) are all trying to describe my feelings of social isolation, loneliness and despair. These four main projects make up My Empty World. By photographing empty buildings that are usually filled with hundreds of people, is trying to evoke an atmosphere of absence. An absence not only of life, but an absence in general that I experience on a day-to-day basis. This absence therefore is a metaphor of my life in general. I place myself in these desolate scenarios to emphasise the distance between others and me. I want the viewer to ask the questions: ‘where is everybody? And why is this person alone in this space?’
